Cardiac triplex (or echocardiogram) is a bloodless, painless and non-invasive examination that tests the heart chambers and heart valves. It is a transthoracic ultrasound of the heart, which is performed with the help of high-frequency ultrasound waves. The sound waves are reflected, producing images and sounds useful for the cardiologist to check the heart's dimensions and shape, pumping power, blood flow, detecting any damage or heart abnormality.
